Why Heat Pumps?

An Excellent Choice

With so many benefits on offer, from reduced greenhouse gas emissions to highly efficient operation, rest assured that a heat pump will tick all your boxes. These units can even be retrofitted to an existing hydronic heating system if desired.

Range of Options

In general, there are two types of heat pump on the market. An air-source unit utilises a fan to draw in air from the outside, which then flows over coils and warms them up, evaporating the refrigerant inside. The resulting warm water is sent through the hydronic system to heat the house. A geothermal unit utilises ambient heat to warm water that moves through a network of underground pipes.

“Cambro have been servicing my heater for years and they have never disappointed me. I recently had to replace my heater. I didn't even bother shopping around because I knew that they would do the best job.”

Backup Power Source

In some situations you may also need to install an offset power source to ensure that your hydronic heat pump can provide your home with warmth whenever it’s required - at all times of the day or night. Solar panels or a gas boiler are the preferred backup power solutions.

Long Service Life & Warranty

Another of the main reasons why heat pumps are rising in popularity for hydronic heating systems is that they offer an incredible life expectancy of around 15 years. Because of this, most manufacturers also offer a longer warranty period (of around 5 years) for your peace of mind.

Installation

Ensuring that your heat pump operates as efficiently as possible requires that you have selected the right unit for your needs, that you’ve selected the right energy source for where you live, that a low-temperature heating system has been designed, and that it has the correct flow rates. As such, we highly recommend installation by our team of licensed installers.

FAQ’s

Will a heat pump work in cold conditions?

Yes! Even in super cold conditions (we’re talking as low as –20oC) the unit will still operate efficiently and economically. Whilst a backup booster heater can be of great help in such conditions, high flow temperatures can still be achieved without one.

When is it best to choose a heat pump?

If you are planning to stay in your home for a while and are looking for a power source that is both economical and environmentally friendly, heat pumps are the clear winner over gas boilers. If you are still unsure of which way to go, please get in touch with our team.

6 year warranty

Alongside the 6 year workmanship warranty that we offer on our installation, each of our boilers for sale is protected by a manufacturer’s warranty. This period is generally 2 years, however, it does differ for some models.
